Attractive 1881 cheque from August Belmont & Co., New York, issued to Rothschild Frères, Paris, for 2085 Francs. Printed in fine steel engraving by the American Bank Note Co., with the Rothschild family arms at left and elegant calligraphy. Dated April 20th, 1881, and marked ‘PAID’. A fine example of early international settlement between the American and French banking elites.
