Lot 274:
Description
Beautiful founder’s share certificate issued by the Banque Franco-Tunisienne de Prêts Mobiliers (Franco-Tunisian Bank for Movable Property Loans), also known as “Monts de Piété de Tunisie.” Issued in Tunis, this piece reflects French financial influence in colonial North Africa. Capitalized at 400,000 francs, the certificate is richly illustrated with allegorical figures, a cityscape of Tunis, and fine Art Nouveau border detailing. This certificate represents a rare example of early 20th-century banking history in French Tunisia.
