Description

A visually striking bearer bond issued by the French colonial government in Algeria during the interwar period. This "Emprunt 4% 1931" was authorized by several legislative acts between 1920 and 1931 and offered a 4% return over a 30-year period. These bonds were part of a larger public financing initiative to support colonial infrastructure and development under French rule.

Elaborately decorated with Islamic geometric border motifs in red and white, this bond is a compelling example of colonial fiscal instruments, blending European bureaucratic design with North African artistic influences. Signed in manuscript by the Governor General of Algeria

Highly collectible due to its historical, aesthetic, and political significance, especially amid growing interest in colonial-era fiscal ephemera and African financial history.
