Highly decorative 1910 external loan bond issued by the State of Maranhão, Brazil, printed in Paris. Features ornate architectural engravings and the Brazilian coat of arms. This 500 Francs bond was part of a large funding operation to finance state development, with text in French. A prime example of Latin American loan history.
