Payable to Heinrich Kafka, a Brunn based shoe-manufacturer and a distant relative of Franz Kafka, a German-speaking Bohemian novelist and short-story writer based in Prague, who is widely regarded as one of the major figures of 20th-century literature. Franz Kafka’s father, Hermann was a fashion retailer and had a shop selling shoes and other footwear in the Kinský Palace.
