Rare early banking document issued in Vienna on July 28, 1881 by the Société d’Escompte de la Basse Autriche (Lower Austrian Discount Company). This cheque, drawn for 1,834.75 French Francs, is made payable to Messrs. Rothschild Frères, Paris, one of the most powerful banking families in 19th-century Europe.
